Perth 2018: annual conference
The call for abstracts for AFAC18 powered by INTERSCHUTZ, the CRC's annual conference with AFAC, is now open. All CRC projects are expected to submit an abstract, with the conference being a major avenue to the fire, land management and emergency services industry.
Taking place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 5-8 September 2018, the conference will explore the theme Changing Lives in a Changing World.
The conference will open with the CRC’s full day Research Forum, which will focus on the science that is making an impact across the sector. The Research Forum is not just for researchers - it's where anyone working in natural hazards management can network with and learn from the main research teams in this field.
Day Two and Three of the annual conference will be slightly different this year, with the option for participants to register for either the main AFAC18 streams or the concurrent Australian Disaster Resilience Conference. More details to come.
All the details needed to submit an abstract are available on the conference website, including submission guidelines with detailed information about the conference theme and topics to address. Note that abstracts must be submitted through the dedicated conference website. The closing date for submissions is 12 February 2018.
While the first day will be dedicated to natural hazards science, many science papers will also appear on the program in subsequent days. Abstract submissions are open to all involved in emergency management including career staff, volunteers, academics, industry, community and all levels of government.
The conference will once again feature a large trade exhibition. The partnership with INTERSCHUTZ in 2017 resulted in biggest exhibition in the history of the conference.
