Len Foster, Jenny Foster and Stuart Ellis in the Foster room
Key gatherings in emergency management and research will now be held under the watchful gaze of a pioneer in the sector.
The main meeting room in the new offices shared by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, the National Aerial Firefighting Centre and the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council has been named in recognition of Len Foster AO, who is credited with the both the establishment and the development of these organisations, as well as the Bushfire CRC, over the past two decades.
Mr Foster and his wife Jenny today ceremoniously cut the ribbon into the large meeting room at the offices at 340 Albert Street in East Melbourne.
Up until 2014 Mr Foster held several positions at the Bushfire CRC including that of chairman and board member. At AFAC, Mr Foster was at various times president, chief executive officer and a board member. He was also a board member of NAFC.
The CEO of AFAC, Mr Stuart Ellis, said that Mr Foster was pioneer in the fire and emergency management industry with his foundation work for all the organisations now occupying the building.
