The new look Australian Journal of Emergency Management
The new-look Australian Journal of Emergency Management edition is now out, published by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience.
Preparing children for disaster is an essential feature of contributing to communities’ resilience to disaster. Effective child-centered disaster risk reduction and management unpacks the risk, makes it visible and transparent, and provides children, teachers and parents adequate and appropriate information on managing that risk. This issue of the Australian Journal of Emergency Management looks at various programs underway in schools to prepare children, as well as the post-disaster experiences of men after Black Saturday, appropriate mitigation strategies for severe wind events, and much more.
This edition of AJEM introduces the Journal’s new design and format. This change reflects AJEM’s new home under the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience. We hope you like it and continue to find the Journal’s content informative and engaging.
As you look through this issue, you will see that articles are divided into News and Views (with orange headline text) and Research (with purple headline text). The Research section contains articles that have been peer reviewed.
The Institute is a partnership between the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council, the Australian Red Cross and the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, in conjunction with the Australian Government's Attorney-General's Department.
